PE
We are delighted to announce that we have achieved the School Games GOLD LEVEL Mark Award for the 2025/26 academic year.
The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.
Mrs Harriet Brewer – PE Subject Lead
Hello! I’m Harriet, and I’m proud to be the PE Lead at Eastburn. Physical education is a real passion of mine, and I believe every child can benefit from a high-quality PE curriculum.
At Eastburn, we offer a broad and balanced programme that helps children build skills, confidence, and a lifelong love of being active. Our curriculum is designed to be inclusive and enjoyable for all, with a focus on health, teamwork, and resilience.
Beyond lessons, we run a wide range of after-school clubs and competitions, giving pupils exciting opportunities to try new sports, develop their talents, and represent the school. Above all, we want every child to leave Eastburn with positive experiences of PE and the confidence to stay active for life.

We cover a wide range of sports through our skills-based curriculum. Children are encouraged to set and work towards individual goals, while also developing cooperation and teamwork through group sports and activities. Our curriculum covers:
Gymnastics
Dance
Outdoor Adventurous Activities
Net and Wall skills
Striking and fielding skills

Fundamental movement skills
Swimming (Year 4)
Athlete Visit
We were honoured to host a very special guest at our school - Sean Gaffney, who led a fantatsic workout and assembly, and inspired us all to be our best.
After an accident preparing for the Royal Tournament in 1999 left him with a leg amputation which led to 25 surgeries, Sean did not let his journey stop there. Battling cancer twice with unwavering grit, he’s triumphantly competed in both the Invictus Games and Commonwealth Games. Sean’s story is one of incredible resilience, proving that with determination, even the toughest challenges can lead to extraordinary achievements.
Sean's Motto: Be good today, be better tomorrow!
